Make it genuine

by Christine on February 4, 2010

Some women think chivalry is only good if it is genuine. I read this on a feminist website feminist.com:

“I don’t care who opens the door–whoever gets there first. If you simply want to open the door–great, but if it’s being done out of some sense of tradition and/or some sense of helping the woman that becomes the problem, because it’s not genuine, but assumed.”

Chivalry developed out of a set of rules and traditions, now it is just expected. But if it weren’t for the rules no one would hold doors open. I think if you give it a chance to let it become a habit, it will become genuine. Besides that I am sure most men don;t do it out of obligation. Maybe I am wrong. Guys do you want to chime in?
